Complainant in #MeToo case against BJP leader claims threat to life

Dehradun: The BJP worker, who had alleged that a senior leader of the party sexually harassed her, has now claimed that the city police was not ready to provide her adequate security thereby causing a delay in the recording of her statement in the case.In her complaint, the woman had detailed the ordeal she faced at the hands of Sanjay Kumar, BJP’s then state general secretary (organisation), while working in the party’s data collection team in August this year. She had claimed that Kumar dropped hints of helping her “political growth” in lieu of sexual favours, adding that she has saved evidence including objectionable messages and photographs.Talking to TOI over phone, the worker said that she had written to the city police again on November 30 but failed to get any response. “With the removal of Kumar from his post, there is a threat to my life. However, she has not responded to our notices. We will provide her necessary security if she wants but she should co-operate with the investigation first.”Ever since the removal of Kumar from his post, the party has also maintained a distance on the issue. BJP state president Ajay Bhatt said, “It is now between the police and the survivor. The party has nothing to say in the matter.”
