Dehradun: Minister of state for external affairs, General (retd) VK Singh on Sunday attacked the Congress party on the Rafael deal by saying that "for Congressmen, the Gandhi family is above even the Supreme Court of India (SC)."The Union minister was in Dehradun to participate in the Vijay Diwas celebrations in the city. He was addressing media as per the BJP’s plan of holding 70 press conferences on the Rafael deal across the country.The former Army chief told mediapersons, “Rahul Gandhi always gets his facts wrong and in the Rafael deal, he got it completely wrong. Congressmen are setting a new record of sycophancy as they are putting the Gandhi family above the SC’s judgment on the Rafael deal and pointing fingers at the apex court’s order.”He added that the Congress’s disregard for the SC judgment was "shocking." "SC has found nothing wrong in the price, the procedures and the offset matter of the deal. Congress is just spreading lies."The minister added that Congress also tried to rake up the Bofors scam to raise false questions in the Rafael deal. “Four petitions had been filed in the court against the deal but even after the SC order, they want a Joint Parliament Committee (JPC) probe into this matter and that is unfortunate. The BJP is ready for any discussion on the deal but we won’t allow the Congress to politicise the issue for electoral gains,” he said.On the issue of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) being overlooked as the offset partner in the deal, he said, “It is for the Congress to explain why HAL failed to match the operational requirement of Dassault. The Congress must answer why the deal was not allowed to move during the UPA regime.”On CBI’s internal feud and the RBI governor’s resignation, Singh said, “In CBI, it’s the matter between two officials and the Centre has no role in it. And if the RBI governor had some issues, than he should reveal the names of people who put pressure on him.”
