Year after, two more held for role in kidney racket

Dehradun: Dehradun police on Sunday arrested two more accused in the sensational kidney racket that was busted at a hospital on the outskirts of Dehradun in September last year.The accused, Satendra Kumar and Ankit Kumar, both natives of Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh, were working as guards at Gangotri Charitable Hospital where the illegal kidney racked was being run by mastermind Amit Raut.“Satendra Kumar was nabbed from Sonipat in Haryana while Ankit Kumar was held from his hometown Muzaffarnagar. As of now, 14 accused have been arrested for their involvement in the kidney racket,” said a police officer.Dehradun and Haridwar police had jointly busted the inter-state kidney racket on September 11, 2017 in Gangotri Charitable Hospital, 30 km from the town, and arrested the mastermind Amit from Panchkula in Haryana four days later, along with brother Jeevan, 50.Subsequently, police arrested more people involved in the illegal kidney racket in which kidneys were being removed from poor people and transplanted on patients, including foreigners.On December 11, 2017, police filed charge sheet against 14 people, including kingpin Amit Raut, in the court.
