Man breaks world record with smallest lsquomodel ship in glass bottlersquo

Nainital: Prakash Chandra Upadhyay, 46, working in Dr Susheela Tiwari Government Medical College and Hospital in Haldwani has made his way into the ‘Golden Book of World Records’ for making the smallest ‘model ship in a glass bottle’ with dimensions 1.50cm x 0.50cm x 0.15cm.Upadhyay broke the 62-year-old record of Arthur V Pedlar, a resident of London who made a ‘model ship in a glass bottle’ with dimensions 2.38cm x 0.90cm x 0.20cm in 1956.Upadhyay, a diploma holder in fine arts, said, "I was inspired by my elder brother who used to draw paintings. I also decided to follow in his footsteps and engage with art.”Various other records held by him includes smallest hand-made book in India with dimensions 3x4x4mm, smallest pencil in the world measuring 5mm long and 0.5mm wide and longest painting with length of 15 meters, among others.In Dr Susheela Tiwari Government Medical College, Upadhyay is involved in drawing diagrams of dissections of body parts and related subjects pertaining to medical study in the institution.Using thread, steel wire, adhesive and matchsticks for his smallest spinning-wheel, Prakash has been showcasing his artistic talents in various exhibitions across the country too.“I started painting as a hobby in 1992 and decided to experiment with nano-art four years back,” he said.Last year, in April he had registered his name in Limca Book of Records for making the smallest spinning wheel in the world with dimensions 5x5x6mm.
