Nainital: The Uttarakhand high court on Wednesday asked the state government to reply within a week on how it was planning to tackle the problems arising due to the continuing strike by private doctors.While hearing a public interest litigation, the court asked the state government to specify the remedies it will take, such as appointing doctors on ad-hoc basis, to solve the health facility crisis.Dushyant Mainali, counsel for the petitioner, told TOI, “Due to the strike, patients are suffering. Many government facilities lack infrastructure and staff.”The PIL was filed by Haldwani-based activist Gurvinder Singh Chadha.On February 15, 2018, the court had dismissed a review petition filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Dehradun against its order in August 2018 which ordered the state government to seal all clinical establishments which were not registered under the Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2010.
