26-yr-old man drowns in Ganga while taking selfie

Rishikesh: A picnic trip ended in tragedy for a group of four friends after one of them drowned in the Ganga while taking a selfie on Mast Ram Baba ghat in Rishikesh. According to police, Ashish Jadli, 26, lost his balance while trying to snap a picture of himself with the gushing waters of Ganga in the backdrop.His friends jumped in to rescue him but he was swept away by the strong currents. Jaldi was a resident of Kotdwar and his body was recovered by police and handed over to his family after postmortem.SHO (Laxman Jhula) R S Kathait said, “We often ask tourists to be careful while taking a dip in the river but our warnings are often ignored.”
