48 forms collected on first day of filing of nomination, no candidate files papers

Dehradun: The filing of nomination papers for the Lok Sabha elections began in Uttarakhand on Monday with no nomination papers being filed on day 1 although several candidates in the fray purchased nomination papers.Officials said that in all, 48 candidates collected the form. While 13 candidates collected the form in Tehri Lok Sabha constituency, 11 took them in Haridwar, 10 in Nainital, nine in Pauri and five in Almora.In Haridwar, Antriksh Saini from the Bahujan Samaj Party collected the nomination form while the form being purchased by a namesake of CM Trivendra Singh Rawat also led to much curiosity and speculation.The last date for the filing of nominations in the state is March 25.
