Dehradun: State Congress in charge Anugrah Narayan Singh on Tuesday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying the saffron party has a tradition of “ignoring” its senior leader. Singh was referring to the BJP dropping senior leader like L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi from its candidates list for the Lok Sabha elections. The Congress leader also alleged that the party meted out a similar treatment to its five-time MP and former chief minister Major Gen (Retd) B C Khanduri.“The people of Pauri are extremely angry with the treatment given to the senior leader and are looking forward to teach the BJP a lesson,” Singh said.He said that rather than respecting the senior leaders, ‘the BJP is setting them aside.’Singh went on to say that there was a big difference between the BJP and the Congress when it came to making promises. “Opposition parties make promises, but often fail to fulfill them after coming to power. Have people got Rs 15 lakh in their accounts, were 10 crore jobs created in the last 5 years, has black money kept in foreign banks brought back. These were the promises made by the BJP,” he said.Singh asserted that the Congress fulfil its promises in time-bound manner.“In Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, we waived off loans of farmers within 10 days of coming into power. Likewise, we will also implement the minimum guarantee income scheme once the Congress comes to power,” he said.He added, “Now, the BJP is questioning from where the funds will come to implement minimum guarantee income scheme.
