Dehradun, Apr 26 (PTI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday visited Kedarnath to review the reconstruction projects and preparations underway at the Himalayan temple in view of the Char Dham yatra beginning early next month. He did an on-the-spot inspection of Saraswati Aastha Path, which has been completed, and issued instructions for the early completion of Mandakini Aastha Path. He also took information about the buildings being constructed near the temple in the traditional hill style, an official statement said. Dhami met the construction workers at the temple and asked officials to resolve the problems being faced by them in carrying out their duties. He also thanked them for their valuable work and braving the vagaries of weather, it said. Now that the area is being cleared of snow, construction work should pick up pace but without any compromise in terms of quality, the chief minister said. Tourism Secretary Dilip Jawalkar, who accompanied Dhami to Kedarnath, said an entrance for the convenience of pilgrims is being built at the temple and the drainage system is also being further improved. Around 700 workers at present are engaged in the construction projects being carried out at the temple, Jawalkar said, adding a Brahma Kamal water park will also be developed in the Kedar Valley. Dhami also said retaining walls and railings should be built along Saraswati and Mandakini rivers and the entire Kedar Valley should be developed as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also issued instructions to start work on developing Vasuki Tal trek as early as possible. The Char Dham yatra begins on May 3 with the opening of the Gangotri and Yamunotri temples in Uttarkashi district. Kedarnath in Rudraprayag district opens on May 6 and Badrinath in Chamoli district on May 8. Prime Minister Modi is also likely to visit Kedarnath after it reopens for devotees. But the date of his visit is yet to be finalised. A record number of pilgrims are likely to come this year for the yatra, which is taking place without the Covid-induced restrictions for the first time in two years. PTI ALM ALM AQS AQS
