Hospital issues notice to firm over seepage

DEHRADUN: The administration of the Sushila Tiwari Hospital (STH) has issued notice to a firm making a prefabricated ICU over its slow pace of work and the issue of water seepage caused by it. The firm was assigned to set up a prefab ICU containing 30 general and 12 advanced beds at a cost of Rs 8 crore in November 2021. The ICU is being constructed on the first floor, just above the medicine department. During monsoon, the scrapping work led to the issue of seepage. "We have been in correspondence with the firm from the past 2-3 months and have given them notice to speed up the work. They have assured us of repairing things within a month, else we may have to blacklist them," said Dr Arun Joshi, the principal of STH.The same firm was given work related to the prefab ICUs and other tasks in seven major hospitals of Uttarakhand. The petitions challenge the Goa governments decision to auction mining blocks I, II, and III in Sirigao village. The petitioners argue that the village, including temples and other settlements, should be excluded from the mining blocks due to the environmental damage caused by previous mining activities. They also claim that the auctions were conducted without a mining policy and without the consent of the gram sabha (village council).
