Murder accused living as monk in police net

Dehradun: A murder accused, who disguised himself as a monk and had been on the run for the past five years, finally ran out of luck. Uttarakhand polices Special Task Force (STF) nabbed Veer Singh Saini from Bijnor on Wednesday.According to the police, Saini was wanted in a murder case registered at Haridwars Ranipur police station. They found him living in the temples to evade capture.Along with two other accused, Virendra Singh and Balbir Singh, Saini faced charges related to the molestation of a girl on August 10, 2018. In a bid to save his sister, the girls brother confronted the three. The trio attacked him, and he later succumbed to the injuries, senior superintendent of police, STF, Ayush Agrawal, said. Of the three, Virendra was arrested a few days after the incident. Saini and Balbir were on the run. Amid the ongoing probe, the STF gathered inputs against Saini with the help of manual intelligence and the mobilisation of informants to nab Veer from Mandawar in Bijnor on Wednesday, Agarwal added.To evade the police, he had turned into a monk and was living in various temples.
