Dehradun: The city witnessed a thrilling spectacle at the FRIMA Golf Course as the DehradunGolf League (DGL) swung into action with an electrifying round one. The spotlight shone on junior sensation Samriddh Thakur of Team Fairway Fighters, whose remarkable five-round performance propelled his team to a 5-3 victory against the seasoned duo of Col Rajat Sharma and Madhav Dalvi from Vishranti Hospitality.The top five teams will clash in the finals on December 24 to claim the coveted title of Dehradun Champions.In the opening round, the Doon Ryders duo, Col Vias Gulati & Dharmendra Bohra, showcased sheer dominance with an impressive 8 & 7 win against Ravi Bagdi and Col Anshuman Handa of UK Eagles. Meanwhile, Avatara Stingers and underdog Fairway Fighters emerged as frontrunners, each securing three wins and tying for the 1st position with three points. Hot on their heels are Doon Ryders and Sultans of Swing, both tied for the 3rd position with 2.5 points, boasting two wins and a tie each.The spotlight, however, belonged to Harry Mann of Sultans of Swing, who stole the show with a spectacular hole-in-one on the 11th hole, using an 8-iron. Mann and his partner Imran Khan clinched a comfortable 5 & 4 victory against Anshul Pal and Capt Kumar Dixit from Team Pestle Weed.The ceremonial tee-off for the league was graced by Lt Gen Vijay Mishra, PVSM, AVSM, the commandant of the IMA. The administration had been engaged in a 40-year legal battle to evict the families, which began in 1984. Despite a court order granting the families time to leave, the administration partially unsealed the houses, causing issues for the residents.
