18 more U`khand products get GI tag

DEHRADUN: Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami distributed GI tag certificates for 18 products here on Monday. Uttarakhand, officials claim, is the first state in the country to get the highest number of 18 GI certificates in a single day.Dhami said: "Its a historic day for Uttarakhand." Till now, 27 products of the state have received GI tags.Newly certified products include Uttarakhand Chaulai, Jhangora, Mandua, Red Rice, Almora Lakhori Chilli, Berinag Tea, Burans Sharbat, Ramnagar Nainital Litchi, Ramgarh Peach, Malta, Pahari Tor, Gahat, Kala Bhatt, Bicchu Booti fabric, Nainital candle, Kumaoni colored Pichhoda, Chamoli Ramman mask and Likhai wood carving.Nine products of Uttarakhand -- Tejpat, Basmati rice, Aipan Art, White Rajma of Munsiyari, Ringal Craft, Thulma, Bhotiya Dan, Chiura Oil and Copper products -- have already received this tag.
