27 new policies to help bizmen set up infra

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government, on the suggestion of likely investors at the Global Investors Summit, has framed 27 new policies to help them set up their infrastructure in the Himalayan state. More than a thousand investors and delegates from across the country and abroad are participating in the 2-day summit being held at the Forest Research Institute campus.On the inaugural day of the event on Friday, around 1000 people will create a human chain extending for 3-kilometers to welcome delegates, officials involved in preparations said.PM Modi would be addressing investors on the inaugural day while home minister Amit Shah would preside over the concluding days ceremony. The PM would inaugurate the grounding of projects worth Rs 44000 crore during the inaugural session. Out of these, 16 projects are related to the manufacturing and tourism infrastructure sectors.CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the event is being organised with the aim of establishing Uttarakhand as a new investment destination.In the run-up to the summit, for which the state government has given the tagline Peace to Prosperity, four international and five domestic road shows were organised.Prior to the event, the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) initiated an extensive campaign to give a face-lift to the state capital. The works included installation of sign boards on shops, painting of walls and broadening of roads.MDDA VC Bansidhar Tiwari said, The authority is also improving and streamlining the footpaths of the main roads of the city, which will facilitate pedestrian commuting. In preparing the action plan, co-operation has also been obtained from the architects and renowned artists of the city. The work is being done in a total of 111 short lengths for which the total cost including horticulture work has been estimated at Rs 78.4 crore. The summit, held on December 8-9, will showcase sectoral policies, facilitate B2B and G2B meetings, and explore collaborations and technologies.Union Edu Minister lays foundation stone for 6 infrastructural projects, inaugurates KV in NIT RourkelaUnion Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan laid the foundation stones for six projects and inaugurated a Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) at NIT Rourkela. Pradhan also unveiled e-foundation plaques for developmental projects at NIT Rourkela. NIT Rourkela aims to empower female participation in STEM fields and has reserved a minimum of 20% seats for girls. The institute is constructing hostels for boys and girls to accommodate more students. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also attended the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Bonaigarh College.Uttarakhand tops Himalayan states in cases of rape: NCRBUttarakhand has the highest number of rape cases among the Himalayan states and two union territories, according to the NCRB report. In 2022, Uttarakhand reported 867 rape cases, followed by Himachal Pradesh with 359 cases and J&K with 287 cases. Other states like Meghalaya, Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim, and Nagaland also reported rape cases. Uttarakhand also reported the highest number of child rape cases with 637 cases, followed by Meghalaya and J&K.
