Serious differences between the senior leaders of the party on the names of the candidates have resulted in the Congress high command withholding its decision on Haridwar and Nanital-Udham Singh Nagar constituencies. The Congress high command is likely to hold another round of meeting with the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara and leader of opposition (LoP) Yashpal Arya in New Delhi. The meeting is likely to be held on March 15.  In Haridwar, the names of former CM Harish Rawat, his son Virendra Rawat, PCC president Karan Mahara and Rajpal Kharola are making the rounds. In Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar the party is likely to choose a candidate from among former MLA Ranjit Rawat, Bhuwan Kapdi, Karan Mahara and Yashpal Arya.
