Meet Doon’s ‘mountain bulls’

He says, "Quality food, clean air and rigorous exercise is the secret to a well-shaped body and I get all this at my hometown. I am also the first Indian to participate in this championship and win a medal. The quality of food that you get here is also really good which is very important for any sportsman. Doon being close to nature and the quality of food it offers has helped me build this body. I recently won a gold medal in the World Police and Fire Games 2017 held at Los Angeles.

Sunday Doon's green cover, quality of food and hilly terrain helped them build stamina and prepare for international championships, say bodybuilders in town.The year 2017 has turned out to be amazing for Doon's bodybuilders. Be it Bhumika Sharma , who became the first Indian woman to win gold in the Miss World Bodybuilding Championship, or Aman Vohra , who got a bronze medal in Arnold Classic Amateur Strongman Asia Qualifiers - the city has seen some amazing talent represent our country across the globe. When we caught up with some of these talented bodybuilders, they all agreed with the fact that the quality of food, the city's clean air and the hilly terrains gave them an edge over their competitors and helped them prepare for fitness championships.PowerliftingBronze in Arnold Classic Amateur Strongman Asia QualifiersI have been powerlifting for the past five years and have won five gold medals in Uttarakhand Powerlifting Championship. I have also ranked fifth in the National Powerlifting Championship this year. Last month, I won a bronze in Arnold Classic Amateur Strongman Asia Qualifiers in Hong Kong. I am also the first Indian to participate in this championship and win a medal. My experience in all these championships was amazing as I got the chance to meet so many champions. My achievements are because of the rigorous exercises that I have done in Doon. I have always loved going for treks and exploring the mountains. I was able to build such a stamina because of regular trekking. The terrains have turned me into a mountain bull and has helped me excel in my sport.BodybuildingGold in Miss World Bodybuilding ChampionshipI am glad to became the first Indian woman to win gold in the Miss World Bodybuilding Championship. The championship was an amazing event and I learned a lot of things from my competitors from across the globe. Seeing the Indian flag being hoisted there was a proud moment for me. Doon being close to nature and the quality of food it offers has helped me build this body. I once shifted to Delhi for training and tried making working on my body, but failed because that city is too polluted. So I shifted back to Doon.PowerliftingBronze in Arnold Classic Amateur Strongman Asia Qualifiers in Hong KongFor the past one year, I have been training hard and have been fortunate enough to win a bronze medal in my first international championship. Like any other fitness enthusiast from Doon, I enjoy going for treks. The best part about Doon is that since the hills are so close to the city, trekking becomes a part of ones workout regime. Every, I go for trekking with my friends and enjoy the routine a lot.BodybuildingMr World Police 2017I am a constable with the Dehradun Police and it has been 18 years since I have been gymming. I was fascinated by dole shole since my school days. I recently won a gold medal in the World Police and Fire Games 2017 held at Los Angeles. I joined the police force as I wanted to be a part of the system and help people. Also, my job kept me around people who share the same mindset as mine and who encourage me to pursue my dreams. Doon's weather is perfect for any sportsman. The fresh air and peaceful ambience of the city helps you prepare for the championships. The quality of food that you get here is also really good which is very important for any sportsman.
