Arrears on use of borewells in Dwarka, Palam to be waived: CM Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday announced that he would waive off arrears on sewer charges for the use of borewells in south-west Delhi's Dwarka and Palam areas. "Till the DDA data is furnished, outstanding DDA dues will not be enforced on residents," the CM said. Residents of Dwarka and Palam have been complaining of water-crisis in their localities to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for the past two years. The announcement was made during the inauguration ceremony of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) Public Relation camp at the Delhi University's Deen Dyal Upadhayay College in Dwarka. Water metres will be installed for those who wish to continue using borewells in these areas," he said.

"There will be no charges from residents who seal borewells. Water metres will be installed for those who wish to continue using borewells in these areas," he said. Residents of Dwarka and Palam have been complaining of water-crisis in their localities to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for the past two years. Kejriwal also promised that grievances of the residents, like inflated bills, will be addressed within a week and for the convenience of residents, a cash counter will be set-up at Dwarka Sector-5. He also promised to take up with Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, the issue of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) not furnishing the complete data to the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), which is causing hardships to residents with outstanding bills. Baijal is the chairperson of the DDA. "Till the DDA data is furnished, outstanding DDA dues will not be enforced on residents," the CM said.
