In a bid to rein in unruly drivers of the state-run Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), the transport department has issued a circular to the concerned authorities to make sure drivers open both the gates of the bus each time it makes a halt. “It has been observed that DTC drivers have not been opening both the gates of buses at the prescribed bus stops for safely boarding and de-boarding of passengers, resulting into inconvenience to them,” the circular stated. “We have told the DTC chairman to look into the issue and submit a report within a month from now. Also, the field officers have been asked to submit a report of the violations that were found during the check. The violations will be put on record and action will be taken against the drivers indulging in such behaviour,” a senior officer said.
