The MHA has sought a report on the incident from the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. Justice will be done".He further said a delegation of IAS, DANICS and Subordinate Sevices of Delhi government had met him on Tuesday and apprised him of the prevailing situation. Sources said an FIR is likely to be filed by the Delhi Police in the case.Meanwhile, associations of IAS and DANICS officers on Tuesday condemned the incident, saying that it clearly appeared to be pre-meditated and having the backing of both Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia. Calling it a functional crisis amounting to breakdown of governance, the officers' bodies urged expeditious action against the perpetrators."The IAS, DANICS and DASS Associations, representing the officers of the Government of NCT Delhi, strongly condemn and protest the physical assault by the MLAs on the chief secretary, Delhi, at midnight on 20.2.18 in the CM's residence/camp office at Flag Staff Road in the presence and with the consent of the Hon'ble CM and Deputy CM. The appalling and shocking physical assault meted out to the head of the administration of Delhi, in the form of blows on the head, amounting of threat to life and physical safety, is deplorable," the officers's bodies said in a press release issued soon after they called on home minister Rajnath Singh.Alleging that the midnight meeting called at the chief minister's residence was devoid of any emergency or public interest, the associations said: "...The chief secretary was called alone in the presence of a large number of MLAs, and the meeting had been called to pressurise the chief secretary to release publicity material regarding achievements of the government, in violation of the Supreme Court guidelines."Stating that abuse and assault of officers tend to impair functioning of the bureaucracy in free and impartial manner, the associations urged the political executive to allow them to discharge their official duties professionally.Stating that the officers had been working tirelessly and fearlessly despite all odds, the associations however said the latest incident of physical assault on Delhi chief secretary was the last straw. "This incident, which happened in the official residence of the chief minister, clearly appears to be pre-planned, pre-meditated and absolutely without any provocation on the part of the chief secretary," they added. While condemning the misinformation being spread by public representatives about the facts and circumstances of the incident, the associations declared that they would continue to work in their offices in public interest. "We request for effective action to be taken against all the people behind the incident," they urged.
