Thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds, rain hits Delhi-NCR in next one hour ( Photo Source: PTI) A high-velocity duststorm accompanied with light rain and gusty winds hit the Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) on Saturday evening. The massive storm with a wind speed of up to 70 to 80 km per hour turned the sky dark at several parts of the national capital, including RK Puram, Dwarka, Akbar road, Noida and Chhatarpur area in early Saturday evening. "Delhi storm: Intense thunderstorms to hit the capital in about an hour. Folks take cover," earlier Jatin Singh, CEO, Skymet Weather predicted. Earlier, it was a warm day on Saturday with the minimum temperature settling at 29 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average while the maximum temperature was hovering around 41 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal. Mercury slipped from 41 to 39 degrees Celsius hours before the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted the storm. Muradabad witnessed the highest number of casualties (7) while Muzaffarnagar and Meerut reported two deaths each. Three persons lost their lives in Sambhal and two vies were claimed in Badaun. All these deaths have been reported due to tree or house collapse incidents, according to Relief commissioner Sanjay Kumar.
