Mastermind of Ghazipur Murga Mandi robbery held by Delhi police

The Delhi police have arrested the mastermind of the Murga Mandi robbery on Sunday and recovered a stolen Apache motorcycle and a Honda City car from his possession. The accused, who was standing beside the white Honda City car, tried to run away but was apprehended by the team. The recovered Honda City was to be further used in a robbery in Rohini, as they were planning to rob a businessman near M2K Cinema at Rohini. The police laid a trap in Sector 29, Rohini on receiving the information about the mastermind of the robbery. On May 28, Rs 17 lakh was robbed from an office of the supplier of poultry products at Murga Mandi in Gazipur at gunpoint.

The accused, identified as Chander Prakash (35), is previously involved in 28 cases of auto theft, rape and cases under the Arms Act. The police laid a trap in Sector 29, Rohini on receiving the information about the mastermind of the robbery. The accused, who was standing beside the white Honda City car, tried to run away but was apprehended by the team. Further investigations revealed that the accused had arranged two bikes 15-20 days before the incident from the areas around Rohini and Kakrola. He was closely related to two wanted criminals, Praveen Koli and Krishan Pal Fauji, who have rewards of Rs 1 lakh each on their heads. According to the police, Prakash also arranged a rented room in Risal Vihar, Nangloi where all the criminals assembled and distributed the stolen money among themselves. The recovered Honda City was to be further used in a robbery in Rohini, as they were planning to rob a businessman near M2K Cinema at Rohini. The police also said that Prakash used to collect information in advance about the places or persons where the cash in bulk might be available and would plan the robbery accordingly. Further investigation is underway.
