In a tragic incident, seven people were injured while several others were feared to be trapped under the debris after a five-storey under-construction building collapsed in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad on Sunday, said District Magistrate Ritu Maheshwari. Rescue teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), fire department and UP police were rushed to the spot to carry out rescue and search operation. All the injured, including two children and as many women, were admitted to a nearby hospital for medical assistance. Eyewitnesses said that the under-construction building, which was located in the dense Missal Gadi area of Ghaziabad, collapsed suddenly and labourers were working inside when the incident took place. Labourers working at the building said that they were forced to work despite a crack in the column of the building on Sunday morning. They informed the builder about the crack but he asked them to full the cracks with cement. Earlier, a six-storey under-construction building had collapsed on another five-storey building in Greater Noida. The twin-building collapse in Shahberi village had claimed nine lives, including that of a toddler and two women. A magisterial inquiry has been ordered. 7 people have been rescued and sent to hospital. There is no casualty as of now.
