Live wire kills woman her son husband badly injured

Somehow the wire tore off and touched the live wire below. Cops said a worn-off wire was tied to the iron grille of the window and it dangled against a live wire connected to a transformer below the house. The moment Rajwati touched the grille, she was electrocuted. Police are probing whether some mischief maker had removed the other end of the wire and placed it against the transformer. Surender has been admitted to the ICU.It was found that Rajwati had tied the wire to the grille so that she could dry clothes.

New Delhi: A woman and her son died, while her husband was left battling for his life at AIIMS, after all of them were electrocuted at their house in south Delhi’s Sangam Vihar on Sunday. A case has been registered and probe initiated to establish the sequence of events.According to the police, the incident was reported around 10.30am from a house in Sangam Vihar’s E Block when the woman, Rajwati, tried to open a window while preparing tea for her family. Cops said a worn-off wire was tied to the iron grille of the window and it dangled against a live wire connected to a transformer below the house. The moment Rajwati touched the grille, she was electrocuted. Hearing her calls for help, her son Amarjeet rushed to the room and tried to pull her off the grille, but was electrocuted too.Rajwati’s husband, Surender, on seeing smoke emitting from the room and his son’s calls for help, managed to pull the mother-son duo away from the grille, but was severely injured . They were discovered by the neighbours who cut off the power supply in the area and informed the cops about the incident. The victims were rushed to AIIMS. While Amarjeet died on the way to the hospital, Rajwati succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Surender has been admitted to the ICU.It was found that Rajwati had tied the wire to the grille so that she could dry clothes. Somehow the wire tore off and touched the live wire below.
