It is a fake certificate,” read the letter from Thiruvalluvar University Controller of Examination to the Chairman, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee. Basoya, along with two other of his group, recently won the posts of DUSU President, Vice President and Joint Secretary. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the RSS-affiliated student body, of which Basoya is a member, rubbished the accusation as “NSUI propaganda”. “Delhi University gave admission to Ankiv Basoya after due verification of its documents. But it’s not the job of NSUI to provide certificates to any person… It’s simply a propaganda by NSUI,” ABVP’s media in-charge Monica Chaudhary told reporters.

New Delhi: Accusing the newly-elected Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) President Ankiv Basoya of securing admission in the university using “fake certificate”, the Congress-affiliated National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Tuesday questioned the validity of his admission and his election to the union. The student group made the claim on the basis of a letter — copies of which were circulated in the media — apparently written by the Controller of Examination of the Thiruvalluvar University, dismissing as “fake” Basoya’s graduation mark-sheet bearing that university’s stamp and logo. “With reference to the above, it is informed that the copy of the certificate of following candidate has been verified and found that the said certificate is not genuine. It is a fake certificate,” read the letter from Thiruvalluvar University Controller of Examination to the Chairman, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee. However, the veracity of the letter could not be independently authenticated with the university. It’s the process of DU. Even today DU has all the rights to verify documents of any student enrolled in university. But it’s not the job of NSUI to provide certificates to any person… It’s simply a propaganda by NSUI,” ABVP’s media in-charge Monica Chaudhary told reporters.
