NEW DELHI: An assistant commissioner of police has been booked for allegedly raping a woman, cops said on Thursday. The woman had first filed a complaint against the officer, Ramesh Dahiya, in July.The woman again filed a complaint on September 18, accusing the officer of raping her, molesting her minor daughter and kidnapping her son. An FIR was registered on Wednesday and the case was transferred to the Crime Branch since the case required thorough investigation, police said.In the complaint, the woman said that her husband, who was arrested a few times earlier, had died due to a heart attack in July 2017. She had then approached the police officer, who was the SHO of Sadar Bazar police station at the time.The woman alleged that he had established a relationship with her and promised to marry her. She claimed that she became pregnant with his child, and gave birth in July. When she told him about this, the cop had allegedly abused and threatened her.A few days later, the cop allegedly went to her house and molested her daughter, and threatened to release a video of the woman he had clicked. She alleged the policeman’s kin took away his child as well. The woman then went to the Sadar Bazar police station to make a complaint. She further alleged that the policeman’s relatives started threatening her after she complained.The officer claimed he had lent money to the woman and when he asked her to repay it, she levelled allegations of rape . He was recently promoted to the rank of the ACP and was posted out of the district.
