Delhi AAP traces 9 voters deleted from EC list

NEW DELHI: AAP claimed to have traced nine voters whose names have been deleted from the voters’ list . “Some EC officials in connivance with some BJP leaders are striking off names of Delhi voters from the voters’ list. On what basis have their names been deleted,” he asked.On the basis of the deleted names put up on the commission’s website, AAP got some of the data checked by its volunteers. “To vote is a fundamental right and the conspiracy of EC has snatched away this right of 10 lakh people.”He demanded that the names of these voters should be added back to the list and EC should take strict action against the officers responsible for the deletion. Though they still live at the addresses mentioned in the list, the “election commission found that these voters had shifted and deleted their names”, it alleged on Saturday.Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia claimed that it was being done at the behest of BJP, which is afraid of losing the next elections.

On what basis have their names been deleted,” he asked.On the basis of the deleted names put up on the commission’s website, AAP got some of the data checked by its volunteers. “Many voters’ names have been struck off saying that they do not stay at the location, but they stay at the same address,” Sisodia said.Among those whose names have been “wrongly” deleted are Jakaria Khan, Swati and Eeshan Gupta (all from Patparganj), Ramvardhan Singh, Md Nausad, Puja Gupta, Dharmendra and Sunil Kumar (all from Mandawali), and Dharmesh Kumar (West Vinod Nagar), Sisodia said.Accusing EC of working as “the B team of BJP”, the deputy CM said the names of around 24,000 voters from Patparganj, 27,500 from Kondli, 22,000 from Laxmi Nagar and 13,000 from Gandhi Nagar had been deleted. “To vote is a fundamental right and the conspiracy of EC has snatched away this right of 10 lakh people.”He demanded that the names of these voters should be added back to the list and EC should take strict action against the officers responsible for the deletion.
