On dad's bike, Delhi boy dies in crash

NEW DELHI: A 14-year-old boy died after his motorcycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Azad Nagar metro station on Sunday. Investigating officers said that the boy had probably sneaked out with the motorcycle when his parents were asleep. Cops are also questioning the victim's friends from the neighbourhood and his school to probe if anyone was aware of the plan. He was found injured approximately a kilometre away from his house.The teams are now scanning CCTV footage near the site to ascertain the exact sequence of events that led to the accident.

NEW DELHI: A 14-year-old boy died after his motorcycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Azad Nagar metro station on Sunday. The boy had allegedly sneaked out of his house for a ride on his father's bike.DCP (Shahdara) Meghna Yadav said that the victim has been identified as Divya Sharma and a preliminary probe revealed that he was found injured at 7.30am on Sunday by some passersby who took him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The police were informed about the developments and the body was preserved in the mortuary for autopsy.A crime team visited the spot and upon examination of the damaged Bajaj motorcycle, indicated that the two-wheeler was hit by some other vehicle, which led to the crash. The registration details of the motorcycle were retrieved and the boy's father, Amit Sharma, under whose name the motorcycle was found to be registered, was contacted.The family members claimed they were not aware that Divya had taken the motorcycle and was out for a ride. Investigating officers said that the boy had probably sneaked out with the motorcycle when his parents were asleep.
