According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Sohanveer who shot himself at 5.50 am on Friday. According to police, they have registered a case under Section 306 (Abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and investigation is going on in the case. The suicide note, which was recovered by the police from the spot, claimed that Sohanveer's in-laws had assaulted him and also humiliated over some issues between him and his wife. In the note, Sohanveer named a police personnel who is posted with Gautam Buddh Nagar Police and also his father in-law. "They had on Thursday assaulted me publicly and also videographed it. It hurt my self-respect and I have no other option but to commit suicide. You can check the video and take legal action against them," Sohanveer wrote in the note. The note further mentioned the alleged extramarital affair his wife was involved in. She is also a police officer. "When I had complained about it to my in-laws, they abused me and also threatened that I was demeaning their dignity." The letter has been directed to the Delhi Police Commissioner. Sohanveer also said sorry to the police and his family for taking this extreme step in the letter.
