A Delhi court granted anticipatory bail to AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan in connection with the alleged violence on Signature bridge. A scuffle had ensued on November 4 at the inaugration event between police and BJP’s Manoj Tiwari, who had also alleged that Khan had attacked him — a charge denied by the AAP MLA. Two days later, police received nine complaints from several people, including Tiwari. The Delhi Police had registered three separate FIRs at New Usmanpur police station against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Khan and Tiwari. Later, all three cases and other complaints were transferred to the Crime Branch. Special Judge Arun Bhardwaj said: “It’s not a case where custodial interrogation is required. Therefore, considering the nature of the allegations and the offences allegedly committed, it is directed in the event of arrest the applicant shall be released.” Police said that the investigation is at an initial stage. “The evidence in the case, that is, video footage of the incident, details of the programme are yet to he collected. The witnesses are yet to be examined. The allegations against Khan are serious in nature, and he is a serial offender and involved in more than a dozen cases,” police submitted in court.
