New Delhi: A 45-year-old man died and his was friend critically injured after a Ford Fiesta car lost control and hit them near west Delhi's Todapur The injured person, Anil Kumar Dubey (41), said that the car first hit a divider and a tree before hitting their motorcycle from behind.Senior police officers said that the incident happened at Dev Prakash Shastri Marg near Todapur village early on Wednesday. A case has been registered for rash driving, causing hurt and death due to negligence, at the Inderpuri police station.Dubey, who works as an insurance agent, was returning with his friend Mahipal Singh Rawat from Laxmi Nagar in east Delhi. They stopped at a desolate stretch to relieve themselves. “As soon as we returned to our motorcycle, a speeding car came towards us. It first hit the divider and then crashed into a tree before hitting us. My friend became unconscious after being hit by the car,” Dubey said.In his complaint, Dubey said that the driver, later identified as Sushil Kumar Verma, appeared to be in an inebriated state when he came out of his car to assess the damage. “He tried to start his car again but when it did not work, he ran. We were taken to the hospital in a police van,” Dubey said.Cops said that the two men were taken to a nearby hospital where Rawat succumbed to injuries. The car was seized and based on the details found in the car the owner has been sent a notice. Investigating teams are scanning the CCTV footage of the area. The body of the deceased was handed over to his family following an autopsy.
