Delhi: 59-yr-old cyclist crushed by speeding private bus

According to the police, the victim has been identified as Rajendra Prasad (59) and Rajendra. The cyclists were taking a left turn towards Khan Market when the speeding bus hit them.

A gardener was killed while his colleague was critically injured when they were knocked down by a private bus on the Prithviraj Road on Friday morning. After the accident, the bus driver parked the bus on the roadside and fled the spot. According to the police, the victim has been identified as Rajendra Prasad (59) and Rajendra. Both worked as gardeners at the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) inquiry office in Khan Market area. The duo was on the same bicycle when a bus bearing an Uttar Pradesh number (UP-17-AT 5927) hit them. "The police received a call at 11.16 am about an accident at Prithiviraj Road Q-point, near the Khan Market cemetery. Rajendra Prasad was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre by a passerby where he was declared dead on arrival while Rajendra was rushed to RML hospital where he is undergoing treatment and continues to be critical," said Madhur Verma, Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi district. As per investigating officials, both the cyclists and the bus driver were moving in the same direction towards Prithviraj Road when the incident occurred. The cyclists were taking a left turn towards Khan Market when the speeding bus hit them. After the accident, the bus driver identified as Sonu parked the bus and fled from the location. The bus was taken on rent by Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Burari for a school trip to Lotus Temple. However, by the time the police officials reached the crime scene, the children had left. Another accident took place on a road parallel to Prithviraj Roadin which a cab and a minibus had a collision. A woman working with a private firm was on her way to her office in the minibus when it collided with the cab. Luckily, no one sustained grievous injuries.
