Liquor worth Rs 1L seized in raid at Delhi house

The inventory recorded that the liquor contained foreign whiskeys, single malt Scotch, multiple crates of beer, wines, tequila and vodka.The family members of the businessman told cops that he was not in the house. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against him and a notice has been issued for him to join in the investigation.

NEW DELHI: A joint raid by the Income Tax department and Delhi Police at the house of a west Delhi businessman yielded 180 bottles of whiskey and wine, with the estimated amount to be approximately Rs 1 lakh DCP (west) Monika Bhardwaj said that the accused Sanjay Jain is absconding following the raids at his house in Punjabi Bagh and further investigation is being carried out.The raids were conducted in the early hours of Tuesday when the I-T department alerted the cops, following a tip-off that the accused had stored more than the permissible amount of liquor without any licence.
