Devali area to get water supply from jal board, says Kejriwal

The area would get the water supply within four months. While taking a round of the constituency, Kejriwal said the DJB would also supply water through tankers as per the requirement of the people. After completing his visit, Kejriwal said water supply was the major problem in the area. He assured the residents that the DJB tankers would now supply water free of cost.

New Delhi, June 1 Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday assured the residents of the Devali assembly constituency in south Delhi for connection of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). He said Devali would be supplied water from Sonia Vihar Water treatment plant. The area would get the water supply within four months. The residents would no longer have to purchase water from private tankers, he said. While taking a round of the constituency, Kejriwal said the DJB would also supply water through tankers as per the requirement of the people. Senior officers of the DJB and the South Delhi Municipal Corporation accompanied Kejriwal during the visit. Devali a reserved constituency, was earlier represented by Congress stalwart Chaudhary Prem Singh. But since 2013 it is being represented by AAP in the Delhi Assembly. This is the first visit of any constituency by Kejriwal following defeat of his party in Lok Sabha elections. During his visit, Kejriwal noticed two private borewell and ordered the DJB to take them in custody. He also ordered an FIR against those who were getting water from such bore-wells. He made door to door visits, listened to people’s problems and ordered the officers to resolve them on the spot. After completing his visit, Kejriwal said water supply was the major problem in the area. Private tankers as well as tankers of the DJB were supplying water in the constituency for which the people had to pay. He assured the residents that the DJB tankers would now supply water free of cost. He had ordered 60 new bore-wells in the constituency. He also ordered laying down water pipelines and the work would be completed in two months.
