550th Parkash Purab: DSGMC to release coin, says Sirsa

This decision was taken in a meeting held under the leadership of the DSGMC president, Manjinder Singh Sirsa. The meeting also decided to celebrate 135th birth anniversary of Tara Singh and anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Sirsa said the Sikhs all over the world are celebrating 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev. He said in the Indian politics and the Sikh panth the community could not forget contribution of Tara Singh.

New Delhi, May 31 The DSGMC today decided to release a coin dedicating to 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. The coin will be released by the President, Ram Nath Kovind. This decision was taken in a meeting held under the leadership of the DSGMC president, Manjinder Singh Sirsa. The meeting also decided to celebrate 135th birth anniversary of Tara Singh and anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Sirsa said the Sikhs all over the world are celebrating 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev. The DSGMC is also doing preparation on huge level. Sirsa said two major decisions were taken in the meeting – release of a coin by the President dedicating to 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev and celebration of 135th birth anniversary of Tara Singh on June 24 at 4 pm in NDMC Convention Hall. He said in the Indian politics and the Sikh panth the community could not forget contribution of Tara Singh. “This is our duty to remember such great personality,” he said. He said Tara Singh had devoted his whole life to the community. Maharaja Ranjit Singh had credit to unite “Sikh misals” and valour of “Khalsa Raj”. The credit of beautification of gurdwaras also goes to Maharaj Ranjit Singh. His anniversary will be celebrated in Gurdwara Bangla Sahib on June 29. As a part of anniversary of Maharaja, gurbani will be recited from 7 am to 10 am and a group of Kavishari jatha will narrate the history of Maharaj Ranjit Singh.
