Gurugram: The Gurugram Metropolitan Mevelopment Authority (GMDA) is in the process of developing an app that will allow the users to pay for services (electricity bill, water bill) online. Now there are also provisions that are being made wherein the traffic fines incurred will also be paid through this app. For this, the public agency has already begun the talks with Gurugram traffic police to integrate its software with its app. This is not for the first time when the process of digitising the process of payment of fines has been tried in the city. In 2017, the Gurugram traffic police had started the process of issuing the challans and forming a mode of its payment through WhatsApp. The process however did not kick-off. The process also holds key importance as most of the traffic constables in the city have faced violence from the commuters when asked to stop for the payment fo the fines. There are also complaints that the commuters also have to face harassment when they have to go to the traffic headquarters for the payment of the fine. The unique facility will one among many services that will be provided in the Gurugram app. The authority is in the process of launching an app called Gurugram as a part of its smart city projects. It is likely to go live next month and will be available on Google Play and Apple App Store. The home screen of the application will have tabs with titles My Grievances, Smart Solutions, Discover City, Pay Your Taxes and Bills, Government Services and Information, Live Bus and Near Me. The grievance section will let the user raise complaints related to any of the government departments such as the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, Haryana Urban Development Authority, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam or Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority(GMDA). "Our team will also monitor the redressal of the grievance and once resolved, the concerned resident will be notified," said a senior GMDA official involved in the project. The app will be a common portal for paying property taxes, water, sewage and electricity bills. "Once the user clicks on the tab for the bill payment, it takes them to the payments portal of the concerned department," said the official. Under the smart solutions tab, the app will display information about Gurugram city.
