CM Arvind Kejriwal to attend C40 Summit in Denmark next month

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, is scheduled to speak at the C40 Summit in Copenhagen, Denmark between 9-12 October. He will speak on lowering pollution, including the Odd-Even scheme, and other issues which he oversaw in his recent years as Chief Minister. CM Kejriwal is likely to speak about the Odd Even scheme, as an innovative solution to the air pollution spike. Kejriwal will also speak at an event during the summit called the 'Asian Mayors and City Leaders Meeting on Low Carbon Inclusive Growth'. Mayors and city leaders of Asia's largest cities will meet to discuss how inclusive and sustainable growth can be attained using greener energy and leaving a lower carbon footprint.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, is scheduled to speak at the C40 Summit in Copenhagen, Denmark between 9-12 October. He will speak on lowering pollution, including the Odd-Even scheme, and other issues which he oversaw in his recent years as Chief Minister. The CM will join leaders of other cities like New York, London, Paris, Los Angeles and Berlin and speak on the climate crisis impacting the world an official stated. This is not Kejriwals first foreign tour as CM, in September last year, he travelled to Seoul in South Korea to sign agreements between Delhi and Seoul. An official statement read, "The CM is expected to speak on his governments experience in lowering air pollution in the city and present the set of initiatives taken by the Delhi government that led to the 25% reduction in air pollution in the city. He is also expected to speak about the role of improved electricity supply, phasing out of generators on a large scale, reduction in construction sites, shifting industries to CNG, the increased green cover, and reduction in industrial pollution due to the shut down of two thermal power plants." The third edition of Odd-Even scheme is scheduled to be implemented from November 4 to November 15. CM Kejriwal is likely to speak about the Odd Even scheme, as an innovative solution to the air pollution spike. Apart from Delhi, only Paris and some other cities have successfully rolled out such a scheme. A statement from the Environment Minister, Kailash Gahlot, said, "It is a moment of pride for India that a leader of the country will present a major governance success story before the world." Kejriwal will also speak at an event during the summit called the Asian Mayors and City Leaders Meeting on Low Carbon Inclusive Growth. Mayors and city leaders of Asias largest cities will meet to discuss how inclusive and sustainable growth can be attained using greener energy and leaving a lower carbon footprint. Many such bilateral meetings and sessions will take place, the details of which will be announced later.
