SDMC to adopt zero tolerance policy against air pollution

NEW DELHI: The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti has decided to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against air pollution. As per the instructions, patrolling teams in sufficient numbers have been constituted to take instant action against violators including erring government and related institutions. The teams have been told to roam round the clock on rotation basis, said Bharti. He has asked the zonal Deputy Commissioners to ensure that there is no leniency during this festive season which generally becomes cause of suffocative air pollution. The Commissioner has asked the zonal heads to submit daily action report.

The licencing department has been authorised to take strict action against sale of polluting crackers. The Commissioner has asked the zonal heads to submit daily action report.
