SDMC continues issuing challans

New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Wednesday continued issuing challans against violators of NGT norms and SWM (Solid Waste Management), especially in 'hotspot' areas. "SDMC focuses on the hotspots of dust pollution in all four zones and prepared action plan to tackle the problem," said a statement by SDMC. Other than this, eight water sprinklers had been arranged to curb dust pollution in these areas. Dwarka, which has been the main hotspot as pollution levels are very high, two water sprinklers were deployed for sprinkling around the area. About 223 sites have been inspected to check burning of garbageand dry leaves, road dust, construction and demolition dumping.

"The routes of mechanical road sweepers have been redesigned and three new locations have been earmarked for dumping of dust," said the statement. Dwarka, which has been the main hotspot as pollution levels are very high, two water sprinklers were deployed for sprinkling around the area. "South Zone imposes hefty challan of Rs 5 Lakh on NBCC and Ahluwalia Contractor for their construction sites," said a statement. Other than this, 33 challans were issued amounting Rs 7,10,000 during night patrolling for under SWM by laws and construction & air pollution under NGT Act. In Central zone, 196 challans were issued amounting Rs 6,90,000 during night patrolling. About 223 sites have been inspected to check burning of garbage and dry leaves, road dust, construction and demolition dumping.
