New Delhi: Sub Inspector Sandeep, ASI Jagbir and Constable Naresh were in the night shift when the news of factory fire at Anaj mandi reached the Sadar Bazar police station. The three were immediately on the way to the spot where all they could hear was shrieks of men and sirens of ambulances. They found that it was almost impossible for them to attempt an entry from the front when the building was engulfed with fire and smoke. The three then decided to look for an alternative way to help those who were stranded inside. "We quickly rushed to the backside of the building to find some place to save the men trapped inside. Luckily we found a building and all three of us got to the upper floor to find some men were shouting for help from the adjacent building engulfed in fire. We quickly found a ladder and tried to place the ladder connecting the two buildings to save the men inside," said Sub Inspector Sandeep. By the time a rod was also found by Constable Naresh and ASI Jagbir. They then tried smashing the grill of the window in the building with the rod to break it and rescue those trapped inside. After some blows, they succeeded in breaking the grill of the window. "It was full of smoke and the men inside the building were choking and crying for help, constable Naresh and both me and SI Sandeep pulled out the stranded men from inside the building, we rescued at least 4 men," said ASI Jagbir. After they completed the rescue operation, they were admitted too since they inhaled a lot of smoke from the burning building.
