Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday stated that on the occasion of International Yoga Day, scheduled for Saturday, millions of people across Delhi will actively participate in various yoga events. The Delhi government is not only organizing large-scale celebrations but is also being joined by hundreds of yoga institutions, social organisations, educational institutes and community groups across the city. Addressing a press conference today, the CM released a special yoga theme song. The Chief Minister informed that the Delhi government is hosting yoga programs at 11 key locations across the capital. In addition, many other organizations will hold independent sessions. She expressed confidence that across the city, lakhs of people will be seen practicing yoga, reflecting the citys deep interest and enthusiasm for it. The CM will perform yoga along with hundreds of participants at the Yamuna Vihar Water Sports Club (near Wazirabad Bridge). She further informed that yoga sessions will be held at the following prominent locations: Yamuna Vihar Water Sports Club (Sonia Vihar), Chhatrasal Stadium, Thyagaraj Stadium, East Vinod Nagar Sports Complex, Jhilmil Sports Complex, Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Bawana, Prahladpur Sports Complex, Bharat Nagar Sports Complex, Najafgarh Stadium, Sector-6 Dwarka Cricket Ground, and Ashok Nagar Hockey Stadium. Elected representatives including MPs, ministers, MLAs, and local leaders will participate in these events. Speaking about the newly released yoga theme song, the CM shared that it has been sung by renowned playback singer Amit Trivedi, a recipient of the National Film Award and multiple Filmfare Awards. The video accompanying the song showcases Delhis iconic tourist destinations such as the Prime Ministers Museum, Kartavya Path, War Memorial, Bharat Mandapam, Yashobhoomi, Akshardham, Lotus Temple, Purana Qila, National Charkha Museum, Dilli Haat, Qutub Minar, Baansera Park, Asita Park, Vasudev Ghat, and Bharat Darshan Park. The aim is to promote both tourism and the significance of yoga in daily life, encouraging residents and tourists alike to engage with Delhis cultural landmarks and adopt healthier lifestyles. CM Gupta emphasised that yoga is an ancient and invaluable heritage of India, one that not only ensures physical fitness but also provides mental peace and spiritual balance. She said yoga is an integral part of Indian culture and lifestyle — not just a set of exercises, but a holistic way of living. Yoga helps in relieving stress, anxiety, and depression, empowering individuals from within. In todays fast-paced world, yoga teaches us to pause and reflect — it shows us the path to a calm, balanced, and purposeful life. The Chief Minister urged every Delhiite to make yoga a part of their daily routine. She said, Even if its just 10 minutes a day, regular yoga is a lifelong investment — for both body and mind. On this Yoga Day, let us all take a collective pledge to not only remain healthy ourselves, but also infuse new energy and consciousness into our society and nation.
