Government regularly organising Jan Sunwai

  • | Monday | 23rd June, 2025

To strengthen the connection between the Government and citizens, the Delhi Government is regularly organising Jan Sunwai (public hearing) camps in all districts of the capital. These weekly camps are being held as per the directions of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, with a strong focus on direct communication with the people and timely redressal of their grievances. Recently, Jan Sunwai camps were organised in various subdivisions including Model Town, Seelampur, Civil Lines, Karol Bagh, Vasant Vihar, Punjabi Bagh, Sarita Vihar, Kapashera, Dwarka, Kanjhawala and Kotwali. More than 600 citizens attended the latest weekend camps. Earlier, the Jan Sunwai held on 17 May witnessed a participation of 1,260 people, while on 24 May, over 1,350 citizens took part. These Jan Sunwai camps are being conducted by the District Magistrates every week and are attended by officers from key departments such as the Municipal Corporation, Delhi Police, Power, Water, and Revenue, among others. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said, We are implementing the vision of Prime Minister Modi, who believes that the government should function like a public servant, not a ruler. Our Government is fully committed to being sensitive, transparent, and prompt in resolving every issue. She added that she regularly meets people at her residence to personally hear their concerns. Jan Sunwai is not just about solving complaints; its about building trust and giving people a government that listens. Public trust is our biggest strength, she said. According to the Chief Ministers Office, these camps are not just held in government buildings, but also in local spaces like schools, community centers, chaupals and banquet halls. The aim is to create a welcoming environment where citizens feel comfortable discussing their issues. These public hearings are receiving active participation from local residents, RWAs (Residents Welfare Associations), MLAs, and municipal councillors. Officials present at the site try to resolve as many issues as possible on the spot. For complaints that require further follow-up, the concerned departments are instructed to act swiftly and report back with progress. Complaints raised during these camps include problems related to water supply, sanitation, stray animals, broken roads, illegal construction, power cuts, and non-functioning street lights. People have also brought up issues such as dark spots in localities, encroachments, sewage blockages, and need for tree pruning. Departments like Delhi Jal Board, PWD, Education, Health, Social Welfare and Food and Civil Supplies are actively involved in resolving the grievances. In addition to these camps, the Delhi Government has made it easier for people to raise complaints at any time through the Public Grievance Monitoring System (PGMS) available online 24x7 at its website. Complaint boxes are also being placed outside Government offices so that people who prefer offline communication can easily register their problems.
