  • | Monday | 23rd June, 2025

A 22-year-old man working as a light technician in the film industry died after falling from the fourth floor of a building in Delhis Maidangarhi area on Saturday morning. While police suspect it to be a case of suicide, the deceaseds family has alleged foul play and demanded a murder investigation. According to officials, a PCR call was received by the Maidangarhi Police station early on Saturday morning, reporting that a person had allegedly jumped from a building in the area and appeared to have died on the spot. A police team immediately rushed to the scene and found the body of the young man, later identified as Raj Prasad, son of Late Manish Kumar. Raj was 22 years old and a resident of Suman Chowk in Chhatarpur. The police confirmed that Raj worked as a light technician involved in film shoots and was originally from Rudrapur in Uttarakhand. His family has been informed about the incident. The area where the incident took place was inspected by the districts crime team, and the body was sent for postmortem. The Delhi Police have initiated an investigation and are looking into the sequence of events leading to the death. However, Rajs family is not convinced by the theory of suicide and believes that he was murdered. His cousin brother Sachin, who lived with Raj in a rented room in Chhatarpur, shared the series of events that unfolded that night. According to Sachin, both of them had returned from a shoot on the night of June 20. At around midnight, Raj told him he was going out for a while and would be back soon. But he never returned. At around 8 AM on June 21, I received a call from the police station. They told me that Raj had died after falling from the fourth floor of a building. I rushed to the spot in shock, Sachin said. Sachin strongly believes that Raj did not take his own life. Raj had no reason to commit suicide. He was happy, he was focused on his work. He didnt have any financial or mental issues. We believe someone pushed him from that building. We dont even know why he went there in the first place, he added. The family also claimed that the police were not cooperating fully and were unwilling to consider the possibility of foul play. The police are treating it as a suicide and are not letting us meet the media. We want our side to be heard. We demand a fair and proper investigation from the angle of murder, Sachin said. The building from which Raj fell is also being examined as part of the investigation, police said. Officers have not ruled out any possibilities as of now and are waiting for the postmortem report, which will help determine the cause and manner of death. The police have assured that they are examining CCTV footage, call records, and speaking to people who may have been in contact with Raj shortly before the incident. They also stated that all leads will be followed, and if any evidence of foul play surfaces, necessary action will be taken.
