In a first-of-its-kind event, Delhi Minister of Art, Culture, and Tourism, Kapil Mishra, joined mango farmers and traders from across the country at the Aam Mahotsav 2025 to listen to the 123rd episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modis radio programme Mann Ki Baat. The event was held at Thyagaraj Stadium and brought together people from various regions, making it a unique moment of connection between farmers and the government. Describing the experience as memorable, Minister Kapil Mishra said it was a matter of great pride to listen to the Prime Ministers thoughts while sitting among the farmers and traders who had travelled long distances to be part of the festival. This is not just a cultural event, but a platform to connect directly with farmers and keep them informed, he said. He added that many farmers often miss such programmes due to their busy routines in the fields. This joint listening session gave them an opportunity to hear the Prime Minister talk about agriculture-related developments, government schemes, and national progress. During the programme, the Prime Minister spoke about the recent International Yoga Day, the importance of religious pilgrimages, improvements in healthcare, and the historical significance of the Emergency imposed on June 25, 1975. Kapil Mishra said these issues are meaningful for everyone, including farmers, as they reflect the direction the country is moving in. The Aam Mahotsav has showcased a wide range of mango varieties and mango-based products from across India. Mishra said the aim was not only to display mangoes but also to create a direct interaction between farmers and consumers. The minister also announced several key decisions for Kanwar Committees. He said this year, the Delhi Government would provide up to 1200 units of free electricity to registered Kanwar camps. For electricity meter installation, only 25 per cent of the security deposit will be charged. In a big administrative change, all permissions for Kanwar Committees will now be granted from a single location under a newly launched single-window system.
