more-in Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal chaired the 12th meeting of the Rajya Sainik Board here on Friday. It was decided to enhance the grant for World War II veterans and their widows, in addition to a training grant of ?2,000 per month for National Defence Academycadets belonging to Delhi. According to a statement issued by Raj Niwas, Mr. Baijal also directed that measures to augment financial resources to boost welfare measures for ex-servicemen be explored. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. According to Raj Niwas, the Rajya Sainik Board Secretary apprised the Board of the decisions taken at the last meeting and actions taken in pursuance of them. For ex-servicemen He further laid out the agenda comprising various issues related to the welfare of ex-servicemen, widows and dependents, including proposal to enhance the existing rates of destitute grant, and old-age grant to WW-II veterans and their widows. The consideration of a training grant to NDA cadets from Delhi, enhancement of existing cash grant to Gallantry Award winners and distinguished service medallists, and exemption from payment of house tax by their widows were on the agenda. The L-G directed the Board Secretary that the meeting should be held more frequently. The Board approved the enhancement of grant to WW-II veterans from ?3,000 per month to ?9,000, said a senior official, adding that the L-G instructed the local bodies to examine, positively consider and process the issue of house tax exemption for widows of Gallantry Award winners.
