Cops form 13 district-level panels

The committees have been formed on the direction of Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal, and is chaired by the respective MPs.

Common problems “The committees also consist of members of residents’ welfare associations, traders’ bodies, educational institutions, women’s organisations and labour units,” said Delhi Police spokesperson Madhur Verma. Last month, meetings had been held in the south-east, west, north-west, Rohini, north-east and Shahdara districts to discuss key issues. According to Mr. Verma, the common problems raised during the meetings were traffic congestion, unauthorised parking, consumption of liquor at public places, encroachments along pavements, lack of security in schools, thefts, etc. The Hindu had recently reported how public representatives were upset over the confusion following the scrapping of thana-level committees.
