Patriotic fervour reverberates in towns as national anthem echoes

At 7.53am the importance of the national anthem is explained to the people. The entire town stops work and stands up to sing the national anthem . National anthem is now played in Karimnagar town, Korutla, and Luxettipet. At all the 17 places, volunteers display 10-foot long national flag while the anthem is played. KARIMNAGAR: As the clock strikes 8 in the morning, the dusty town of Jammikunta reverberates with a patriotic fervour .

KARIMNAGAR: As the clock strikes 8 in the morning, the dusty town of Jammikunta reverberates with a patriotic fervour . The entire town stops work and stands up to sing the national anthem . Motorists park their vehicles and join the villagers.It has been a daily affair for all - rickshaw pullers, bicycle riders, fruit vendors, traders, bus and lorry drivers and people of all sections – to take positions at 8am dot and salute the tricolour as the national anthem is played on loud speakers.Circle inspector of Jammikunta police station Pingili Prashanth Reddy started the tradition of playing the national anthem in the town since last Independence Day. He installed 17 loud speakers across the town covering 17 traffic islands. The publicaddress system is monitored through the command control in the police station.Jammikunta has since inspired many villages and towns including Faridabad in Haryana. National anthem is now played in Karimnagar town, Korutla, and Luxettipet. Telangana legislative assembly speaker S Madhusudhana Chary introduced the concept in Parlapally village of Mogullapally mandal in Bhupalapalli district. Prashanth Reddy told TOI that he thought of the novel idea to foster national integration and imbibe a sense of patriotism in people, particularly youth. “Every day when the national anthem is played, it reminds the people of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters,” he said.Before the national anthem, a few ‘wakeup’ songs are played on the public-address system. At 7.53am the importance of the national anthem is explained to the people. At all the 17 places, volunteers display 10-foot long national flag while the anthem is played. After the national anthem, a two-minute recorded speech on patriotism is played.“I have introduced the concept as people should know the importance of the freedom struggle and recall the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters,daily , and not just on national festivals like Republic Day and Independence Day,” he said
