GURGAON: The city topped the Nipun Haryana ranking this month with a score of 91% for the first time this year. Last month, the city scored 89% and was at the fourth position. According to the data, 78% of the mentors made school visits in the month, as compared to 60% last month. Saroj Dahiya, elementary education officer of the city, said, We were short of assistant block resource coordinators (ABRC) and block resource coordinators for making school visits and marking scores on the Nipun Haryana app.There are a total of 363 primary schools spread in 65 clusters in the city and 54 assistant block resource coordinators.So, some ABRCs have been assigned more than one cluster in order to improve the score in school visits category. Five guest teachers are also asked to take the responsibilities of an ABRC.ABRCs have to engage in several other tasks as well. So it is difficult for them to manage the school visits along with other activities, Manoj Lakhra, project coordinator of Foundational Literacy and Numeracy under Nipun Haryana, said. The initiative will be extended throughout the state and will be funded by the District Education Department.
