31-yr-old dies in hit-&-run crash outside Sikanderpur underpass

Gurgaon: A 31-year-old man died in a road accident when he was allegedly hit by a vehicle outside Sikanderpur underpass in DLF 3 around 3am on Thursday, police said.According to the police, he was identified as Amarnath Pathak, a resident of Nathupur. A police officer they believe Pathak was on foot at the time of the incident, but his family claimed he was on a bike taxi, when the incident happened.Complainant Munna Kumar, Pathaks brother-in-law, told the police that Pathak had told his wife on a phone call sometime before the accident that he would be getting an Uber bike home. After waiting for a couple of hours, we tried to reach his phone, but there was no response. The next thing we received was a phone call around 8am informing us about his accident, he said.The deceased was brought to the general hospital in Sector 10, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Hospital staff informed both police and the deceaseds family of the incident and cops began their investigation.According to the police, when a team of officers reached the accident spot, they did not find any damaged vehicle or belongings of the deceased there.Since we did not find any damaged vehicle, we are anticipating that the victim was on foot. We also tried to look for his phone to check whether he booked any ride with Uber or Ola, as per the familys claims, but its missing. There are CCTV cameras inside the underpass that we are yet to check today.
