Lights switched off, car crashes into truck parked on KMP; man dies

GURGAON: A 21-year-old man died after the car in which he was travelling collided with a stationary truck on Thursday morning on the Kundli–Manesar–Palwal (KMP) Expressway. His uncle, who was driving the car, suffered grievous leg injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.According to police, Sandeep Nath and his uncle Sanju Nath were travelling from Palwal to Rajasthan in their Swift Dzire on Thursday morning and at around 5.30am, when they reached the Pachgaon toll plaza, their car rammed a truck parked on the expressway.The truck did not have the parking lights or safety alerts on so due to the fog, the view was hazy. After the accident, I blacked out and on regaining consciousness after some time, I saw my nephew lying unconscious next to me. His head was bleeding heavily, Sanju Nath told the police.Passersby had called an ambulance and both the injured persons were taken to Astha hospital near Bilaspur Chowk. The truck driver had fled with his truck.As Sandeeps condition was critical, he was referred to another hospital in Rewari. He had suffered head injuries and multiple fractures, and died during treatment in the hospital. Sanju has received a fracture in his leg and injuries in his arms and head. He is not in a condition to talk and is advised to remain on rest for the next couple of weeks, Rajinder Nath (18), Sanjus younger brother, said.Inspector Ashwini Kumar said, We were informed about the matter at around 7am and are trying to check the CCTV footage from around the accident spot. Bikes are not allowed on the expressway. A recent crash near Khor village resulted in multiple fatalities. The boy, Samad, was accompanied by three friends when he was hit. His father, Aarif, had planned to take him shopping that day. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the truck driver.
