Girl rescued 4 days ago, kin ask why no arrests

Gurgaon: Four days after rescuing a 13-year-old domestic help who was allegedly tortured and sexually assaulted by the family that employed her at their Sector 57 house, police are yet to make any arrests in the case.The teenagers father told TOI on Monday that cops arent responding to the familys requests for updates in the investigation.We are poor and illiterate.We are doing what we have been instructed to. I am in so much pain that I cant express it in words. Im scared that well be harassed if we share our ordeal.. I have asked the police multiple times if they have acted against the men responsible for my daughters condition, but they refuse to reveal anything, he said.The girls family belongs to Bihar and lives in a village in the city. The girls mother works as a domestic help, and her father is a labourer. The teenager, employed at the Sector 57 home five months ago, was rescued on the night of December 7 after her mother sought help from a retired Army officer, a former employer, to get in touch with the 13-year-old. They went to the house, where they saw the girl covered in burn marks, dog bites and several other wounds. The girl told her mother, according to the police complaint, that she was forced to strip by the two sons (aged 25 and 31) of her employer, Shashi Sharma. She said the two assaulted her and warned her that theyll release her videos online if she didnt comply.The girl was closely watched, and even when the three members of the family left the house, they left her in the basement with her legs and arms tied up, the complaint said. She is currently admitted to the General Hospital in Sector 10.The FIR was registered against Sharma and her two sons, but the pair isnt named. They have been booked under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 344 (wrongful confinement), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC along with relevant provisions of the Pocso Act and the Juvenile Justice Act.Asked why no arrests had been made till Monday, ACP (crime) Varun Dahiya said the case was very sensitive and the allegations serious. So, we are carefully verifying each detail and allegation. On Sunday, the two accused men were interrogated thoroughly, and their statements were recorded, he said.Cops said they are waiting to get the girls medical reports. Ideally, such reports are drafted on an immediate basis. It depends on the investigative officers promptness, said Virender Yadav, district chief medical officer.A counsellor currently treating the girl told TOI that therapy sessions to deal with trauma will begin on Tuesday. Her therapy should have begun by now, but no doctor was available during the weekend. She is slowly starting to talk now, he said.
